Why does my home have a GuestPoints value?
Every home on HomeExchange has a value of GuestPoints per night (GP/night). It enables members to exchange their home using GuestPoints (when a reciprocal exchange is not possible, for example).
Because standards of living will vary throughout cultures and between individuals, when calculating home values, we take into account features that we feel make travel comfortable, convenient, and safe, rather than monetary value.
How is the calculation made?
This calculation takes into account:
- the number (and size) of the beds in your home - which is linked to the general size of the home and how many guests can stay in it
- the location of your home - based on the distance from the nearest tourist sites
- some of the amenities you have added to your listing - for example, having a pool or a garden will increase the GuestPoints value of your home
This is why it is very important to add all the amenities and bed types your home has to offer to your exchange partners, as they can make a difference in the calculation.
Each of these criteria will give your home a certain number of GuestPoints. But to increase the chances for our members to find an exchange, we have set up a limit to a maximum number of GuestPoints each feature can bring.
