How do I know if I’m eligible to apply to be a guest for a solidarity exchange?
The HomeExchange solidarity program was created in the spirit of solidarity from members of our community who want to be there for other members facing a crisis situation. If you are in an area affected by a natural disaster such as a pandemic, fire, earthquake, hurricane, flood, blizzard etc, or a war, forcing you to relocate until the situation improves, then you are eligible to participate in the solidarity program. The next step is to start your research if you already have an account, or sign up for free to get started.
If you already have a HomeExchange account,
Log into your account and make a search as usual with the search engine at the top left-hand corner with the location, dates and the number of guests.
Then, click on “More filters” and under “Groups”, select the Solidarity group.
Your host should set the amount of GuestPoints for the exchange at 0 and HomeExchange will be happy to offer them GuestPoints for their help directly.
The exchange should be finalised on the platform as usual and HomeExchange will extend our guarantees to the exchange, as with a normal exchange.

HomeExchange is a wonderful community based on trust and respect for each other. This initiative was launched after we received so many emails from our members wanting to help people facing a crisis, by generously providing temporary accommodation.
In order to benefit from this program and the generosity from other members, please sign up (don’t worry, it’s free), complete your profile, have your identity verified through the platform and contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org, sharing the link to your profile and in which location you need a place to stay.
We will take it from there to see if there is a member in the area where you are that could host you for up to one month. You can also search home listings yourself in the area where you need accommodation, using the “Solidarity” search filter.
If a suitable home is found, HomeExchange will cover your exchange in order for you to benefit from all the guarantees in case something happens during the solidarity exchange. While we would love to be able to offer more long term assistance, we are happy to provide short term solutions for those in need and will cover the exchange for up to one month.
