What type of homes are shown in the “Members also viewed…” section of my listing page?
When you scroll down on a listing page, you will find a list of homes that other members have also viewed:
It means that members who viewed this listing have also viewed the homes in this list. Therefore, these homes are likely to share some key features and possibly meet your needs.
We display a maximum of 10 homes and clicking on a home in the list will open a new tab.
Note: In some rare cases, when the algorithm has not been able to gather sufficient data on a specific home to offer relevant results, no other homes will be offered for the time being.
How does the it work?
We created an algorithm that uses a human based approach meaning it will study the behaviour of members on the website to identify homes that you could also be interested in. It doesn't take directly into account the features of the home (localisation, equipment, numbers of beds, etc...) but rather how members interact with the listing.
A home will appear in this list when it registers the same interactions from the same members.
Example: John, Lucy and Louis, 3 different HomeExchange members are all looking for an exchange in Paris for their next vacation. During their search, all three of them view these two listings "Cosy apartment in Paris" and "Cute studio in the center of Paris". On these two listings, all 3 look at the host's profile and send a request. Having been viewed by the same members who have performed the same actions (viewing the host's profile and sending a request), these two listings will be considered similar by the algorithm.
