If you're unable to pre-approve an exchange with a potential guest, there could be a few reasons:
Guest Count Has Not Been Set
Ensure that your exchange partner has clearly communicated the number of guests accompanying them during the exchange. The guest count needs to be specified alongside the exchange dates before it can be officially pre-approved. This information can be updated within your conversation thread.
Overlapping Pre-Approved Exchanges
You cannot simultaneously pre-approve two exchanges for the same or overlapping dates. Double-check your messages to verify that there are no existing pre-approved exchanges for the dates in question.
To filter your messages for pre-approved exchanges, click the drop-down menu in your messages tab. By default, this is set to "All messages"; switch it to "Pre-approved exchanges" to view a list of conversations in pre-approval status. If you need to cancel a pre-approved exchange, you can follow these instructions.
Existing Finalized Exchanges
If you have a finalized exchange scheduled for the same dates, you cannot pre-approve another exchange for that period. To ensure there are no conflicts, you can check your upcoming exchanges in these locations:
Exchanges: On the website, go to "My account" and select "Exchanges" from the drop-down menu. Alternatively, on the app, tap "My exchanges" which is indicated by a keys icon.
My Home: View your home listing to see who is scheduled to visit your home. Dates marked in red indicate finalized exchanges. You cannot finalize another exchange for dates that are already finalized.
