Under Chinese law, any non-hotel host must register their foreign guests with the local police within 24 hours of arrival. Note that the registration method differs by province:
- Hebei, Liaoning, Zhejiang, Hubei, Guangxi, Chongqing, Sichuan: online registration is available (National Immigration Administration website: https://s.nia.gov.cn/ArrivalCardFillingPC/entry-registation-home).
- Rest of the country: registration must be completed by the host in person at the local police station.
