HomeExchange is based on open communication, so please think carefully about which description most accurately matches your home.
The criteria can be selected in the "Location" section of your listing. Here is the list of criteria to select, along with each definition:
Countryside :
This criteria corresponds to the rural environment. Your home is in the countryside, and it doesn't matter whether it's near fields, meadows, forests, surrounded by nature, in a small village, served by a bus network, or no public transport at all. The main thing is that it's not the city!Mountains :
Your home is located in a valley or in the mountains, be it in a city or far from civilization. It may often be covered in snow in winter, or it might be in an alpine environment, close to ski slopes or not.Seaside :
This criteria corresponds to the seaside environment. Your home is less than 5km from the coast, or a beach or port. The surrounding area may have a seaside atmosphere.Lakes :
Your home is less than 5km from a lake which you are able to walk around, or even swim in.City :
Your home is located in an urban environment with a well-developed public transport network (with access to buses, trams or metro lines). Your guests will be able to reach a wide range of shops.Village :
Your home is located in the heart of (or less than 5km from) a small, pleasant community, possibly without a well-developed transport network. It's in the middle of the countryside, or it might be in the mountains or just a few kilometers from a town. Your home is ideal for guests who want to get away from the big cities and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet.Isolated :
Your home is in the middle of nature, in a secluded spot, with perhaps one or two neighbors (or none at all). Above all else, there's plenty of peace and quiet with occasional birdsong.Island :
You live on an island or peninsula. You're one of the lucky few whose home is on a stretch of land surrounded by water.
River :
Your home is within 5km of a river in which you can swim or freely stroll along its banks.
These two criteria will enable members to find out more about your home's immediate surroundings and the type of stay they can expect. Your listing will then stand out in the search results to members looking for this type of environment, which will increase the number of exchange requests you receive.
