When you organize back-to-back exchanges, it's essential you check your home or that you have it checked between stays.
Take care of housekeeping for the next guests
When it comes to housekeeping during home exchanges, some members hire professionals to clean their home after their guest's stay. In general though, guests are expected to leave the homes as they find them, so it's up to them to clean at the end of their stay. However, guests may not have had time to clean up after themselves to your standards, so it's essential that someone checks the state of the house before your next guests arrive. This can also be a great opportunity to physically meet your exchange partner, as it's always nice to meet the host during an exchange. If you can't be there yourself, we'd suggest asking someone you know to help you out, and be there to welcome your guests.
Identify any damage
Damage after an exchange is rare, but it can happen. That's why it's important to check your home after each exchange. If you find an issue but you haven't checked your home between several consecutive exchanges, it will be impossible to determine who is responsible. This means you won't be able to hold back the deposit, or make use of the protection included in the exchange.
Meet your exchange partners
Being there to welcome your guests, or to see them off after their stay (if possible) is a great way of bonding. It's always more fun to meet your exchange partners! HomeExchange is not only practical and economical, it also encourages sharing and learning. Every day, our members share their stories of invitations from their exchange neighbors, moments of amazing hospitality over a meal with their hosts, bonds of friendship being forged between their children, as well as small gestures designed to make others happy. Getting to know our exchange partners helps to keep the welcoming, sharing spirit alive. And that's something we cherish.
